    A) Stress Management
    This Stress Management syllabus has been specially designed and is exclusive to the Kevala Centre. Its purpose is to teach you to become a confident practitioner who can help in cases of stress caused by today’s lifestyle without medical intervention. The course examines established techniques such as relaxation, meditation, Transactional Analysis (TA) and Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP). It is also designed to give an overview and includes Nutrition, Bach Flower Remedies, Yoga and Massage.
    The Stress Management Training will give you the necessary skills to set up your own Stress Management practice and can be combined with existing skills to enhance your work as a therapist. Conditions such as dietary disorders, allergies, arthritis and insomnia are some of the many problems which may be caused or aggravated by stress. If you want to extend your skills as a therapist or are interested in holistic therapies but are unsure of where to begin then this is the ideal course for you. Perfect as a self-development program too.

    What does the course cover?
    The course comprises 9 modules and covers:-
    * Understanding the meaning of Stress: physical, emotional, psychological and behavioral effects
    * Understanding the Physical disorders caused by Stress: Physical and psychological symptoms arising from stress.
    * The Importance of Relaxation: Basic Yoga and Tai Chi.
    * Holistic Tools for Stress Management: Autogenic relaxation, NLP, Bach Flower Remedies.
    * Basic Counseling: NLP, TA, Meditation.
    * Recognizing Behavioral Patterns: Communication skills, time management, awareness meditation
    * Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Techniques: Help build self confidence and self esteem in clients.
    * Visualization Techniques and Affirmations: Help clients deal with anxiety, panic attacks, lack of motivation and depression
    * Devise stress management treatment plans and classes: Help clients recognize and prevent relapse
    * First Aid: Basic First Aid techniques.
    * Setting up in Business: Advice on setting up your practice.
    * Case Studies: 6 Case studies are required to support the course.
    * Final Exam: To be completed on finishing all of the modules.
    * Recommended Reading: The course gives details of the recommended books students should read.

    What qualification does the course give?

    Having passed the final examination the candidate will receive a Diploma and will be entitled to use the letters C.H.Ed Dip Stress (Complementary Health Education Diploma in Stress Management).


    B) Reflexology

    Reflexology has increased in popularity over the past few years and has gained respect as an important, safe and natural healing art. Based on the theory that the human body has its own internal energy lines and that ill health can arise from an imbalance of energy, this course shows you how to find and use reflexology points on the foot relating to different parts of the body. A treatment that restores balance prevents ill health and assists relaxation. It treats mind, body and spirit and is a wonderful therapy. This course is structured in easy-to follow-steps with illustrations and covers meridians, consultations and business acumen.
    Reflexologists may work in hospitals, nursing homes, sports centers, natural health centers and beauty salons etc. Therapists may practice independently from home or visit clients in their own homes.

    What does the course cover?

    The Course comprises 10 modules and covers:-
    * History of reflexology: The origins of this unique and effective therapy.
    * General Health Management for Practitioners: The value of a Healthy Lifestyle, Relaxation, Nutrition, Exercise and dealing with clients.
    * Contra-indications: When not to use reflexology.
    * Relaxation techniques: Study with full illustration of the techniques used to expand a treatment to give full benefit of relaxation.
    * Zone therapy and meridians: Principles behind the reflexology treatment, how and why it works.
    * Massage techniques: Fully illustrated study of the different techniques used during a treatment.
    * Reflex points: Fully illustrated instruction detailing the various treatment areas of the feet and how to access them.
    * Treating illness: How reflexology can help to treat illness.
    * Treatment guides and charts: Guides to treating common illnesses using reflexology.
    * Practice management: Color, music, promotion, copies of questionnaire forms etc.
    * Final Examination
    *Case studies: 30 case studies are required to support the course. During the latter modules of this course the student will be required to compile a number of case studies which must be submitted with their final examination paper.

    Anatomy and Physiology is covered in depth and you are required to answer short questions and essay questions for this subject. Please note that if you require or would like a separate diploma for this subject you can obtain this upon request and for a small fee you will be able to take a final exam in this subject and then be issued with a separate diploma.
    Associations and membership
    Having successfully completed the course the student will have gained sufficient skills to practice as a reflexologist and be able to apply for membership of the Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists (subject to attending a 2 day tutorial.)

    What qualification does the course give?

    Having passed the final examination the candidate will receive a diploma and will be entitled to use the letters C.H.Ed Dip.Reflex (Complementary Health Education Diploma in Reflexology).


    C) Yoga Teacher’s Training course

    This exciting Yoga Teaching course has been designed for students of Yoga who wish to formalize their knowledge. The course takes you on a fascinating journey that will prepare you for your role as tutor and guide. It aims to remove much of the mystique and thereby open yoga up to wider participation. On this diploma course you will also investigate the use of chakras, different meditation techniques, the use of pranayama and how to set up and run a class. You will also learn about positive thinking, nutrition, fasting, the healing breath and a small section on yoga for children.
    This course is designed to teach the student of Yoga how to pass the benefits on to others - it does not set out to teach yoga postures to those with no experience.
    We require students on this course to have been studying the asanas for at least 2 years and to have reached at least intermediate level. It is also compulsory to continue to attend a local yoga class while studying.
    As with all our diplomas we strongly recommend the students attend at least one tutorial at the Centre for assessment and support.

    The Course comprises 12 modules and covers:-
    * Background: Outline of the background and philosophy of yoga.
    * Chakras: Study of the energy centres.
    * Meditation: Concentration and meditation techniques.
    * Good Health Management for Practitioners: The value of a Healthy Lifestyle, Relaxation, Nutrition, Exercise and dealing with clients.
    * Pranayama: Study of various yoga breathing techniques and their benefits.
    * Relaxation: Study of yoga relaxation techniques.
    * Asanas: Study of recognized yoga postures and contra-Indications.
    * Class organization: Organizing and running a yoga class and business advice.
    * First aid: Basic first aid techniques.
    * Final Examination

    Anatomy and Physiology is covered in depth and you are required to answer short questions and essay questions for this subject. Please note that if you require or would like a separate diploma for this subject you can obtain this upon request and for a small fee you will be able to take a final exam in this subject and then be issued with a separate diploma.
    As part of the final examination the student will be required to submit photographs of themselves in various asanas chosen from a list of options. Similar photographs are also required as part of Yoga Teacher Module 3.
    What qualification does the course give?
    Having passed the final examination the student will receive a diploma and will be entitled to use the letters C.H.Ed Dip Yoga (Complementary Health Education Diploma in Yoga Teaching).


    D) Aromatherapy

    The first part of our exclusively-written two-stage program is the theory element studied at home, which covers the requirements of the Aromatherapy core curriculum and includes a specially filmed DVD which takes you through the practical elements.

    Following successful completion of the home learning section you will be able to obtain insurance and practice as an Aromatherapist. Subject to attending at least one 2 day tutorial you will also be eligible to join the Guild of Holistic Therapists and/or Complementary Medical Association.

    To qualify for an additional listing on the voluntary Aromatherapy Register which allows you to call yourself a ‘Registered Aromatherapist’, you will need to complete the second section of 6 weekend workshops, which can be simultaneous with your theoretical studies or taken at a flexible pace.

    The course has been specially written for us by leading practitioner and writer Carole Preen and in its entirety (both parts) is accredited by the Aromatherapy & Allied Practitioners’ Association (AAPA), which you will be invited to join should you complete all the required elements of this course and become a qualified aromatherapist at the agreed national level. This course has been benchmarked to the National Occupational Standards and complies with the Regulatory Body’s Core Curriculum.

    Our unique approach allows you to choose how far you want to take and use your qualifications and is ideal for students who start studying Aromatherapy out of interest and then wish to take their studies further.

    E) Massage Therapy

    Massage Therapy is probably the oldest of all holistic treatments and has been used throughout the ages by all cultures. It is a holistic form of treatment which has a profound effect on the mind, body and emotions. During this body massage course you will learn how massage aids digestion, stimulates the lymphatic system and improves circulation, helps to improve muscles and skin tone and combined with the psychological benefits, quickly brings about a feeling of overall well-being.
    This course is designed both for those who plan to practice as a therapist upon completion of the course, as well as those who are interested in the subject for the benefit of both themselves and their family and friends.

    What does the course cover?
    The course comprises 9 modules and covers:-
    * History of massage
    * Massage and stress:
    * Neurology
    * An introduction to oils.
    * Introduction to remedial massage
    * Massage techniques and contraindications
    * Breathing and relaxation techniques
    * Good Health Management for Practitioners
    * Meridians and acupressure
    * First aid
    * Consultation procedures
    * Setting up in business
    * Final Examination: To be completed on finishing the course modules.
    * Case studies: There are 30 case studies required to support the course which must be submitted with the final examination paper.
