This is a wonderful, ancient and heartbreakingly characterful German tin toy from our collection:

Tut Tut Automobil (Lehmann manufacturing number EPL 490) with movement and the two original headlights and the original wheel caps (which are mostly missing and replaced by replicas - here original!), lithographed and absolutely original hand-painted. Length 18 cm, height 16 cm.
Early motorists had to share the road with horses, cyclists and pedestrians and were legally obliged to blow a horn around the turn of the century in Germany in order to be able to blow other road users in front of the "devil's machine" car in time. Ernst Paul Lehmann made fun of motorists with this toy.
This magnificent toy was an international bestseller of German tin toy production and it remained in production for an unusually long time (between 1903 and 1935). In my opinion, this tin toy is one of the 10 most important German tin toys, which should not be missing from any serious collection.
An excellent investment that will still get your value through genarations.

The toy honks under the car using a small bellows, while the fat man with a hat moves the steering wheel back and forth with his arms during the car journey. Most of the time the bellows are defective and this fun function of the toy is then no longer given. In this specimen from our collection, the bellows and the function of the horn work perfectly, which is very, very rare.
